Postpartum support
Need help right now?
Having a baby changes everything, and big feelings afterward are common, for moms, partners and the whole family. Some sadness or worry in the first weeks can be normal, but if it doesn't ease, feels heavy, or gets in the way of caring for yourself or your baby, help is available. You don't have to go through it alone, and reaching out is a strong thing to do.
Talk to someone about postpartum feelings
- National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: call or text 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262). mchb.hrsa.gov/national-maternal-mental-health-hotline. Free, confidential, 24/7, in English and Spanish with interpreters for 60+ languages. Partners and family can call too.
- Postpartum Support International (PSI) HelpLine: call 1-800-944-4773 (#1 Español, #2 English), or text "Help" to 800-944-4773 (English) or 971-203-7773 (Español). postpartum.net/get-help/psi-helpline. A caring volunteer gets back to you with support and local resources; messages are returned daily, 8am–11pm ET. Not a crisis line. PSI also offers free online support groups, including groups for dads.
Outside the US
- Call your local emergency number, or find support near you on PSI's international map.
BabyCroc isn't a medical service, and this page isn't medical advice. If you're worried about yourself or your baby, call your doctor, midwife or pediatrician. In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number).
